10 Sec Tidy-up

To help cut down on clean up time for showings in a staged home have the family do a 10 second tidy up each time they leave a room.

Cords

When taking down something like electronics or something with lots of cords, if you label each cord and label the slot it came out of it will be no guess when putting it back together.

Eco Clean

Clean it green with vinegar, water, baking soda etc. instead of hardwood cleaners full of chemicals.

Bathrooms

When going to country properties sometimes toilets are stained with calcium and rust. I use a toilet cleaner called bowl brite from I.G.A. very heavy duty cleaner.

Lime build-up

For people who smoke or cook exotic foods, before painting, seal the ceiling and walls first so the smell won’t come through.

Soak rags in vinegar and lay them over hard to clean areas on tubs (like lime build-up) Leave it on for two hours. It will soften up the build up so it can be removed so you can get the tub shiny again.

Stoves

When cleaning stoves – place racks in a garbage bag and spray with cleaner. Tie the bag and leave it for 4-6 hours. Everything will just wipe clean. I always put the bag in a laundry or bath tub just in case the bag leaks.

Cleaning

Cleaning tip – Never stage a home without using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. It is truly Magic! The small sponge requires no cleaning products, just water. You can use it all over the house. I like it best for walls that have stubborn dirt and scratches. The Magic Eraser makes the walls look new without damaging the surface.

Detail

Attention to detail cannot be stressed enough (clean, clean and clean).

Oil Stains

If there is an oil stain on a driveway they can be removed by first putting varsol on it and rubbing it in with a old broom.  Then put kitty litter over it. The kitty litter will absorb both the varsol and the oil.

Kitchen Cabinets

For kitchen cabinets with food and grease stains, clean with cream cleaner and soft scourer sponge.

Baking Soda

Use baking soda on carpets and furniture to rid the air of pet odors.  Sprinkle baking soda on carpet or furniture let sit for 5-15 minutes then vacuum.

Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinets collect so much grease, grime and dirt from all the cooking, dirty hands touching the drawers and handlings, food spillage and moisture all collect on the cabinetry. Even though there so many cleaners out on the market for all types of cabinet materials, a simple and inexpensive answer is a detergent and warm water solution, followed by a dry cloth to wipe off the excess moisture. For wooden cabinetry, rub lemon or orange oil with a lint free cloth to give luster and shine to a once dull cabinet door. It will also give luster and shine to a once dull cabinet door.  It will also give off a fresh, clean scent, appealing to potential homeowners.

Microwave odors

Put a citrus fruit (cut in half) in a bowl and microwave for 1 minute, takes smell out of microwave.

Product to use to make the house sparkle

My tip is a product to use to make the house sparkle, “Hertel Multi” liquid cleaner. 1 capful in a bucket of hot water and 2 cloths is all it takes to make things sparkle windows, mirrors, stainless steel, ceramics even walls.  Use 1 cloth to wash and the second cloth to shine and sparkle the home leaving it smelling clean.

Ink stain

Try hairspray!
